In this research, we are developing a method of coloring books according to the content of each page. By applying a such coloring, a reader can get a bird’s-eye view of content transitions without opening the book. The characteristics of each book can be expressed using color features.
For each word that appears on a page, we use a color-word association dictionary. For example, concrete words like “leaf” (green) or “fire” (red) use their visual appearance. However, abstract word are often also associated with a color like “anger” (red) or “sadness” (blue), where the general public loosely agrees.
We expected to apply this research to document search and summarization techniques.
